IDOT Update from Secretary Treasurer and Business Agent, Robert Santana

May 14, 2020

IDOT Updates from Secretary-Treasurer and Business Agent, Robert V. Santana Jr.

The IDOT Contract has been signed by the Teamsters Local 700 and Central Management Services on behalf of IDOT.

The signed agreement is currently being reviewed by Teamsters Local 727 Benefit Fund Trustee’s for Signature. We anticipate their portion; the Participation Agreement will be signed shortly upon review of their trustee’s. Local 700 is urging Local 727 to expedite this process.

Once IDOT has signatures from Teamsters Local 727 Benefit Fund Trustees, the contract will be fully executed and the raises, stipends and retro-pay will be scheduled for implementation.

Currently, IDOT members are working off of the contract terms that expired on June 30, 2019. We want to thank the hardworking members for their patience for the last 10 months of waiting on a successor contract.

Teamsters Local 700 understands that this is a very long process to be waiting for especially since the years prior to this new contract were all frozen.

We will continue to do everything we can to assist our IDOT members in the expediting of this process all the way through the day your well-deserved economic gains are in place by the new agreement.

Teamsters Local 700 has been actively tracking and pursuing any outstanding, pending and any new issues that have arisen since January 01, 2020 and especially during the Covid-19 period.

We have recently completed a full audit of issues, grievances and/or disciplinary cases from 2019 that have yet to be addressed. Our goal is to work through all of these matters so that our members cases are not forgotten. Scheduling of pending cases is set to begin as early as June.

We are closely monitoring work activity and working conditions for those IDOT employees reporting to work and even ones that are on standby from home during this rotating shift schedule.

Our main priority is to have every measure in place to protect our members during this world pandemic and ensure they are provided with the CDC recommendations and protocols.

Teamsters Local 700 has already been distributing cloth face coverings and will also be providing other items in the coming weeks to help keep you and your family safe.

We are not able to have meetings due to the stay at home order but please contact your Union Steward if you have any questions on the job. If you need the name of your Steward, please contact the union hall.

Looking forward to meeting all our IDOT members very soon.

Stay safe and well!

Fraternally,

Robert Santana
