Teamsters Local 700 Chief Legal Counsel Nicole Chaney has been assigned as the business agent and representative to the members at the Cook County Department of Corrections (CCDOC).
As she takes on this responsibility, Nicole will be transitioning into the role with the help of the previous CCDOC representative, Teamsters Local 700 Vice President Anthony L. McGee.
“I am grateful to have been a part of representing the selfless, hardworking men and women at the Cook County Department of Corrections,” said Vice President McGee. “I believe Nicole knows the pulse of the jail and the issues that affect all of the officers and I will be here to guide her as she gets situated.”
Nicole was first hired as an attorney for Local 700 in April 2014 and became Chief Legal Counsel in March 2019. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and her Juris Doctor from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago.
“Being an attorney at Local 700 always meant a lot to me because I was in a position to help our members become whole again through legal battles against the employer,” said Nicole. “The CCDOC members have always been near and dear to my heart, and I am looking forward to representing these dedicated officers who are always facing difficult and dangerous situations while upholding their commitment to public service. Thank you to President Ramon D. Williams and the CCDOC Union Office for putting their confidence in me to take on this role and fight for these officers.”
