CCDOC Assistant Chief Steward James Penney Appointed as Benevolent Fund Trustee

Cook County Department of Corrections (CCDOC) Assistant Chief Steward James Penney has been appointed by the Teamsters Local 700 Executive Board to serve as a Trustee of the Local 700 Benevolent Fund. James served as a steward for the CCDOC for over eight years and has been one of the Assistant Chief Stewards since 2016.

“I am truly honored for the opportunity to serve the Local 700 members as a Benevolent Fund Trustee,” said James. “I find it extremely difficult to watch those of our union brothers and sisters who struggle with health or financial hardships. I am looking forward to being part of the organization that can provide some relief to these members during tough times.”

The five Trustees of the Local 700 Benevolent Fund are James Penney, Diahann Goode, Alex Horemis, Ted Rowley and Mark Robinson, who also serves as the Chairman. The committee meets once a month to review applications and make recommendations for assistance. A Benevolent Fund application is available on the Local 700 website at
