Alexander Soler, a Teamsters Local 700 Steward at the Cook County Department of Corrections (CCDOC), is running for Trustee of the Cook County Pension Fund Retirement Board.
The Cook County Pension Fund is governed by a nine-member Retirement Board: four are elected by the employees of Cook County and the Forest Preserve District, three are elected by retirees of Cook County and the Forest Preserve District and two are ex officio seats appointed by the Comptroller and Treasurer of Cook County.
Two rank-and-file members currently represent local 700 on the pension board. CCDOC member Bob DeGraff was elected to the pension board in 2016. CCDOC Steward Diahann Goode was first elected to the board in 2012 and then ran unopposed to become re-elected in 2015. Later that year, members of the Cook County Pension Fund Retirement Board voted for Diahann to serve as Secretary for the board.
“Teamsters Local 700 members who work for Cook County are very fortunate to have this kind of representation on the pension board,” said Teamsters Local 700 President Michael G. Melone. “Your own union brothers and sisters are working hard to protect your pensions and oversee the management of your future benefits. To have the opportunity to add another Local 700 member to the board is a rare opportunity that I hope all Cook County members take advantage of and VOTE!”
