Teamsters Local 700 proudly hosted more than 100 union stewards at the Local 700 meeting hall for a training event that was held on Tuesday, Oct. 18 and Wednesday, Oct. 19. Local 700 hosts two training sessions per year for stewards to strengthen their knowledge of union policies and network with each other.
This training event was designed as an “open house” setting much different than previous steward training sessions held in the past. The Local 700 Executive Board, along with all of the business agents, chief stewards, attorneys and staff were stationed around the meeting hall to interact with stewards about the following union committees and activities: Communications, Legal Team, Political Action Committee, Benevolent Fund, Organizing Committee and the Teamsters Convention.
Staff set up visual displays at their stations and presented each of their assigned committees/activities and how they operate within the union. Stewards received a Local 700 bag, and small giveaways and handouts when they visited each station.
“Our goal for this event was to showcase the services provided by Local 700 in a laid-back, fun and more interactive atmosphere,” said Teamsters Local 700 President Becky Strzechowski. “We hope our stewards walked away from this event feeling more connected to the union and excited to share something new with their fellow members.”
Many of the stewards from different locations mingled with each other while sharing lunch/dinner and had fun taking pictures with the Executive Board.
