The Cook County Sheriff’s Department filed an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) on Jan. 12, 2016 with the Illinois Labor Relations Board against Teamsters Local 700, claiming the union has engaged in “bad faith bargaining.”

In a letter attached to the ULP, the counsel from the Cook County Sheriff’s Department claims the union violated a Letter of Agreement for arguing that the Office of Professional Review (OPR) took more than 18 months to complete internal investigations during two separate hearings. The 18-month time frame was previously agreed upon in a Letter of Agreement on July 29, 2015.

“They basically want us to stop fighting for our members’ rights and that’s not going to happen,” said Becky Strzechowski, President of Local 700. “Our legal team is professional and persistent in pursuing justice on behalf of our members and will not be distracted by a laughable document.”
