Local 700 Hosts Lobby Day in Springfield Over 50 members, representatives and officers took to a bus, cars and bikes to travel to Springfield on May 24 to lobby against proposed changes to their pensions. “It was an exciting day; everyone was full of energy and ready to talk to their legislators,” said William P. Logan, Local 700 President. “It’s a scary time for public employees and we want to do whatever we can to support them, their families and their futures.” Joint Council 25 Political Directors Mike Ciaccio and Jeff Crabtree assisted members in either meeting with their legislators or leaving information with them on the Teamsters’ point of view on the pension crisis. “We are firmly opposed to any pension legislation that unfairly burdens public sector workers,” said Becky Strzechowski, Local 700 Secretary-Treasurer. “We look forward to continuing our lobbying efforts and helping our members.” Along with the many members, Recording Secretary/Business Agent Michael G. Melone and Vice President/Business Agent Vincent F. Tenuto Jr. were also in attendance. DOWNLOAD PDF |
