Oct. 22, 2010 Local 700 Gets Raise for Calumet Park Part-Time Police The Village of Calumet Park recently approved a three-year contract - which included safety upgrades and annual salary increases - for nine Teamsters Local 700-represented part-time Calumet Park Police Officers. After one bargaining session earlier this month, the union and the Village agreed on a contract, which provides holiday pay at overtime rates, a bulletproof vest, a $250 uniform allowance, and annual raises. "We are pleased that the membership was satisfied with the terms of the contract and unanimously approved it," said Local 700 Trustee John T. Coli. "Considering the economic recession we are facing, we are happy with the fact that our part-time police will receive, by the end of this three-year contract, almost a $4 per-hour salary increase," said Local 700 Assistant Trustee Becky Strzechowski. "That's something that will really pay off for our members." Local 700 Assistant Trustee William P. Logan said he's pleased that officers' protection was made a top priority. "Our officers currently don't have bulletproof vests. By providing each of our officers with one bulletproof vest, the Village is further reassuring the safety of our police," said Logan. |
